Welcome to PAPA!
The Philippine Ambulatory Pediatric Association, Inc. has reached a significant milestone as we commemorate our twenty-seventh year of existence. Our founding members and past presidents have carried out meaningful endeavors to help PAPA achieve its vision-mission. As the thirteenth president, and not being superstitious for that matter, it is my intention to carry on and pursue the aspirations and dreams of my predecessors.
There are five existing advocacies congruent with the PAPA vision-mission and these are:
1. Early Literacy – Reach Out and Read Philippines
2. Community-based Tuberculosis Control in Children
3. Bahaghari: Health Supervision Guidelines of Infants, Children and Adolescents
4. Tobacco Control in Children and Adolescents
5. Childhood Injury Prevention
Each PAPA member is highly encouraged to adopt one or two advocacies that resonate with his/her personal vision-mission. This is a way we can help fulfill our dreams and leave a legacy to the next generation of ambulatory pediatricians, general pediatricians and family physicians together with those health care providers taking care of children in general. Yes, it means sacrifices in terms of time, talents and treasure (resources). But in the end, life is about giving of ourselves to others and it will eternally be inscribed in history.
Let us make a difference for the Filipino children and for our nation.
Sincerely,
Edna Sarah M. Clemente-Morada, MD, MHPEd, FPPS
President
