Masayang Pamilya (MaPa) Parenting For Lifelong Health - Philippines 2015-2017

PAPA was awarded a two year grant by the UBS Optimus Foundation for a parenting programme named Parenting for Lifelong Health- Philippines. This used a theoretical model called the Masayang Pamilya (MaPa) Program, a skills-oriented group-based positive parenting program taught in a collaborative approach using illustrated stories, group problem-solving, and role-modeling of parenting skills.

It is a localized adaptation of the South African parenting program called “Sinovoyu Caring Families Program for Young Children” developed specifically for families in low-resource settings with children ages 2-6 years old.   It aims to increase parents’ knowledge, skill and confidence in utilizing positive discipline techniques with the end-goal of reducing violence against children.

This program is a joint effort of the Philippine Ambulatory Pediatric Association, Inc., the University of Oxford, the University of Cape Town, Bangor University and the Ateneo Bulatao Center with financial support from the UBS-Optimus Fund and UNICEF Philippines.

Duration of the Porject: 2015 - 2017
